Always consider the possible regeneration of your plasticizing unit’s components

The plasticizing unit, both in injection moulding machines and extruders, is an essential component for having a high-quality production.

Among the services that Euroviti has always provided to its customers there’s the plasticizing unit’s state of wear check-up, which is the starting point to be able to understand various aspects of the plasticizing unit employ, and the possibility of saving time and money by regenerating the components instead of proceeding with the realization of new ones; and the bigger they are, the greater is the saving.

The plasticizing unit, both in injection moulding machines and extruders, is an essential component for having a high-quality production. In fact, during the assessment of the state of wear, the objective will be to understand the possibility of removing surface imperfections, dimensional wear and all those areas that can cause any stagnation of material from the small corrosion porosity on the screw core or the flights flanks till the huge ponds present in the barrel.

Therefore, once the assessment is done, our technicians will proceed and provide a complete report of the wear, identifying if it is necessary to proceed with total or partial regeneration, if there is no need for it or if the intervention has been done too late. But sometimes, as per one of our latest job, even when you think that it is too late we might find a solution.

During a visit to a costumer facility one of our technicians noticed a pair of screws diameter 107mm which were going to be thrown away by their owner because of their wearing and the shank abrasion by friction. In some twin-screws, dust guards or thermoregulation joints are mounted on the shanks and being them static while the twin-screw rotates, in the long run they wear out the point of contact of the shanks causing leaks.

We told them to send us the screw and here you can see the steps of the fixing of a pair of screw that instead of being scrapped are now being used for production.
